How can we improve DiffNow?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

    it can be usefull a merge tool sometimes you have an old file and a new file and you want to merge it.

  4. Transfer Text arrows

    You can further modified the result text by providing two arrows as below between two text areas ( Where result is stored).
    1. >> Right Arrow to transfer text to right
    2. << Left Arrow to transfer text to left.

  5. Word wrap?

    I am trying to compare two drafts of student essays to see how much they edited.I like this software's functionality better than the other text comparison tools, EXCEPT that I need to scroll horizontally to see the extent of the differences, and that makes it near useless. If the text wrapped to the windows, I would love it.

  6. Include SAS program identification

    Just like it already identifies some languages, it'd be nice if SAS can be included here. I've been using this extensively, but my codes are in SAS and so I've to use it in the plain text mode.

  8. one window diff view

    Instead of having side by side views, it is MUCH better to see one view with the characters added by the second file in blue and the characters removed by the second file in red and struck through. See CSDiff by ComponentSofware. It is the BEST view. It's not Mac compatible, though.

    Unfortunately, this would require extensive redesign, and the vast majority of our users prefer the side-by-side view.

    Note that DiffNow does have a Line Inspector panel at the bottom of the comparison window, that lets you easily see the currently selected pair of lines. It’s not quite what you’re asking for, but it can accomplish the same goals.

    allow same files to be reloaded and recompared (let's say your doing a manual merge and want to see the results)

  11. Your "Download" doesn't even download.

    Your so-called "download" is not a download at all ... it is a LINK to a URL where you have to scroll through a screen. I want the information actually downloaded so that I can put it into Word. Why are you calling something that does not download a "download"?
