  1. assuming javascript is available, to cover the case where http compression on uploads is not available or not effective, do local compression of a file pair using javascript in the browser, with file type-specific compressors.

It all depends on whether you can face writing a load of javascript.

    • Second idea: concatenate the two files before upload, because then the combined result will be much more compression-friendly.

    • Third idea: do a basic local diff in the browser using javascript and upload a list of difference sections with duplicated blocks not sent twice - so massive speed-up. Then if files are identical,…

  4. Hello

Is there a way we could provide the First URL / Second URL by a query paramter and your website automatically fills in the two Urls and starts the comparison? We are considering your service for using it internally at your company. With this we could save a lot of time passing in the Urls manually.

    Thank you!
    Daniel

  5. Hi,

I'm very shure that I used your sweet DiffNow tool for the FIRST time today.
Nevertheless I got an error message "You have reached your limit of 5 comparisons a day."

Somehow the counter seems to have a problem.
    Did you change something?
In the past and even a few days ago I never had such problems.

    Kind regards,
    Andreas

  6. I had a very long list that I was trying to pare down, which we'll call List A. I was organizing it and moving things around, and there were multiple duplicate lines. So the second list was a shorter product, and hopefully with all the lines from the original, but only once, and better organized, which is List B. So, I'd like to be able to make sure that all the lines from List A made it into List B, though the number of appearances and ordering may be different, and for it to highlight anything in List A that…

  7. i've uploaded two files, well within the size limit; I'm waiting now 45 minutes for the comparison output.

I think I could have compared them manually by now.

  8. If the change between two text files is that R8299 is removed, and replaced by R82991, don't show it as the line having changed, but one line deleted and other line inserted.

  11. You should add a clearer way to do a new diff. Looked for two seconds but since all colors are so prominent (with little differentiation) ended up just hitting refresh for a new diff.

  12. After normalising, when n difference blocks have been isolated, if it looks as if a block has been moved, compare the difference regions themselves on the two sides.
Then show the differences between the before move and after move blocks.

This is differencing applied to some of the results of the (normal) first phase.

It would be really valuable if stuff has just been moved around but there are no real differences other than that.

  20. What would you think about a "New Comparison" button? It would only have to clear the text areas and maybe do some overall clean up of the previous results.

I know am not a very active user of the Pro(gram) version, but would you be willing to provide a license key for the new version?
